Multi-Site AV, Electrical & Network Deployment for a Leading Apparel Brand

Project Overview

A major global apparel retailer partnered with CaTECH Systems to power the expansion of their North American distribution centre network, spanning 5 high-volume facilities across the U.S. and Canada.

The objective: Deliver a fully integrated network infrastructure including structured cabling, audiovisual systems, electrical services, and network smart hands from the ground up.

Acting as a single-source partner, CaTECH became the client’s go-to provider for seamless, scalable, and standardized infrastructure rollouts across borders.

This ongoing engagement includes:

  • Structured cabling and fiber deployments (including Corning Fiber to the Edge)

  • Boardroom AV, digital signage & warehouse-wide paging systems

  • Full electrical infrastructure including 100kVA UPS installations and EMT conduit

  • Network rack-and-stack, Wi-Fi deployments, and support for robotic pick tower integration

Scope: 5 Sites (Canada & U.S.)
Timeline
: 3+ years and ongoing
Facility Type
: 4 new builds, 2 temporary swing spaces
Facility Size
: Up to 1 million sq. ft. per site

Challenges

  • Cross-Border Execution

Deploying consistent AV, electrical, and networking infrastructure across multiple jurisdictions introduced challenges in union regulations, permitting, and on-site subcontractor coordination, particularly in the U.S.

  • Compressed Timelines & Complex Logistics

Working in live construction environments and coordinating multiple service lines under fast-track timelines required precise scheduling and milestone accountability.

  • Long-Distance Connectivity for Outdoor & Remote Zones

Facilities required Wi-Fi and CCTV coverage across extended spaces like outdoor courts and loading bays, far beyond the range of traditional copper infrastructure.

Solutions

  • Regional PM Oversight + Local Leads

We assigned dedicated regional project managers supported by local leads in Vancouver, Toronto, and Los Angeles to ensure real-time coordination, QA, and site presence—bridging communications between trades, consultants, and the client.

  • Innovative Technology: Corning Fiber to the Edge

To overcome distance limitations for outdoor Wi-Fi and surveillance, we implemented Corning’s Fiber to the Edge—a powered fiber solution that extended connectivity over half a kilometer without needing additional IDFs or power infrastructure.

  • Seamless Coordination Across Trades

Through weekly construction meetings, early-stage vendor planning, and pre-staged materials, we coordinated flawlessly with lighting, ceiling, and racking contractors—ensuring every cable tray, AV endpoint, and panel landed exactly where and when needed.

  • Certified Quality Control

Final handover at each site included:

  • Electrical inspections & safety compliance
  • Manufacturer-certified terminations (Cat6, fiber, powered fiber)
  • QA documentation, close-out packages & lifetime warranty coverage

Results

  •  Delivered On Schedule

All sites were delivered per schedule, enabling timely commissioning of office networks, Autostore robotic systems, and warehouse operations.

  •  Innovative Wi-Fi & Security Rollouts

Long-distance outdoor connectivity was achieved using powered fiber—enabling perimeter surveillance and wireless access points even at remote courts and far-end loading zones.

  • Scalable Infrastructure for Robotics & Automation

Over 3,000+ Cat6 cables and 300+ WAPs supported the integration of one of North America’s largest Autostore pick tower systems.

  • Unified Infrastructure Across Borders

By using one vendor across Canada and the U.S., the client now benefits from consistent product quality, simplified IT management, and faster deployment times—every facility looks and functions the same.

  • Expanded Scope & Future Engagements

Thanks to the success of this rollout, CaTECH was awarded new scopes across additional locations.
